Why This Topic is Crucial Right Now
International sanctions, particularly from the U.S. and EU, are being enforced with unprecedented reach. The recent designation of Indonesian-owned tugboats by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on March 13, 2025, serves as a stark warning: Indonesian companies are squarely on the radar.
Operating within the Malacca Strait, one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes, exposes local players to numerous counterparties. This proximity increases the risk of inadvertently dealing with sanctioned individuals, entities, or cargo, which can lead to:
- Severe Financial Penalties: Fines can reach millions of dollars per violation.
- Operational Disruption: Vessels can be seized, transactions blocked, and insurance coverage voided.
- Reputational Damage: Being associated with sanctioned activities can lead to being blacklisted, losing partners, and facing intense scrutiny. This webinar is designed to equip you with the knowledge to proactively manage these threats.
