Expanding Our Knowledge Base in Maritime Law with the Appointment of Tiyana Sigi Pertiwi
At Anggraeni and Partners, we recognise that delivering high-quality legal services in a complex and rapidly evolving regulatory environment requires more than case-by-case analysis. It demands a structured and forward-looking approach to knowledge development, management, and dissemination across the firm. To that end, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Tiyana Sigi Pertiwi, S.H., LL.M. as a Knowledge Lawyer for our Ocean, Maritime, Climate and Trade practice group.
The Role and Importance of a Knowledge Lawyer
A Knowledge Lawyer is a senior legal professional who focuses on the systematic development and management of legal knowledge within the firm. While not engaged in billable client work, the Knowledge Lawyer plays an essential role in ensuring that legal teams operate with accuracy, efficiency, and strategic clarity.
This position involves monitoring legal and regulatory developments, maintaining and updating internal guidance materials, managing precedents and legal templates, and supporting continuing legal education by devising and handling legal trainings within and outside the firm. A Knowledge Lawyer also contributes to thought leadership and legal scholarship, enhancing the firm’s standing in the broader legal community.
In jurisdictions such as Indonesia, where domestic regulations increasingly intersect with international obligations—particularly in the maritime sector—the role of a Knowledge Lawyer is critical in bridging global and local legal frameworks.
Appointment of Tiyana Sigi Pertiwi, S.H., LL.M.
Tiyana Sigi Pertiwi joins Anggraeni and Partners with an academic background in both Indonesian and international law. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws (S.H.) from the University of Indonesia and subsequently earned her Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton, a globally recognised centre for shipping and maritime studies in the United Kingdom. Prior to joining Anggraeni and Partners, she has accumulated experience working as an international lawyer in the Asia-Pacific, with postings in Jakarta, Beijing and Osaka.
Tiyana brings with her a robust understanding of both civil and common law perspectives on maritime issues, including shipping disputes, liability regimes, international conventions, and environmental compliance frameworks.
