Anggraeni and Partners proudly become a supporter of Gerakan Ingat Selamat Layar Indonesia Movement (GISLI), actively contributing to safety education for seafaring communities.
On Sunday, July 30, during a workshop held at the Muncar Fishing Port in Banyuwangi, Anggraeni and Partners was represented by Fildza Nabila Avianti. As a Research Associate from the Ocean Climate Practice Group, Avianti delivered a significant presentation on the role of mothers in ensuring the safety of seafarers.
She highlighted that maritime accidents experienced by fishermen do not only affect them but also adversely impact the livelihood of their families, especially the wives and children. She cited that fishing is a hazardous occupation, accounting for about 32,000 fatalities every year, as reported by the International Labor Organization (ILO).
She also advocated for a paradigm shift in safety training. Thus far, safety training and risk awareness in seafaring have mainly targeted fishermen. However, Avianti insisted that involving women and children in such training often results in stronger impacts in fostering awareness and enhancing maritime safety.
The session was moderated by Muhammad Soufi Gemilang, a research analyst from the Ocean Climate Practice Group. His expertise ensured a smooth and productive exchange of knowledge during the workshop.
Through their involvement in GISLI, Anggraeni and Partners aspire to make a meaningful contribution to promoting safety and risk awareness among coastal communities. This step aligns with the firm’s commitment to play an active role in community education and participate in initiatives with a positive impact on the broader society.
Let’s support this initiative and join in efforts to enhance safety and well-being among coastal communities. The safety of seafarers is our collective responsibility. (AAH, FNA, MSG )
