The upcoming FISH Platform Conference 2025, held at the Hyatt Regency Bali, will unite global experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to advance discussions on sustainable fisheries, marine ecosystems, and fisher welfare. Representing Indonesia’s growing contribution to maritime safety and legal reform, Anggraeni and Partners (A&P), through the Gerakan Ingat Selamat Layar Indonesia (GISLI) initiative, will take an active role in this international dialogue.
The two-day forum, inaugurated by the Vice President of Indonesia, underscores the urgency of improving occupational health, safety, and fair labour practices within the global fisheries sector. The conference features diverse sessions ranging from legislative frameworks to community empowerment and technology-driven safety innovations.
On the first day, R. Ahmad Anggi Hakim, representing GISLI and Anggraeni and Partners, will deliver a presentation titled “Empowering Fishing Communities through Education, Training, Communication, and Policy.”
This session highlights the firm’s continuing efforts to promote safer working environments for Indonesia’s fisher communities through legal literacy, behavioural change campaigns, and collaboration with local and international partners.
On the second day, Orima Melati Davey, Research Associate at Anggraeni and Partners (GISLI), will present “Safeguarding Fishers in the Shadow of IUU: Emerging Legal and Policy Pathways for Safer Seas.”
Her presentation will explore the intersection between law, policy, and practice—focusing on how Indonesia’s evolving regulatory landscape can protect fishers from risks associated with Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing and support fair labour standards across the maritime sector.
The conference will conclude with the signing of the Bali Declaration, a global commitment to advancing health, safety, and decent work for all fishers. The declaration represents a unified step toward aligning regional and international frameworks for safer and more sustainable oceans.
Through participation in this conference, Anggraeni and Partners reinforces its dedication to building resilient maritime governance, promoting responsible fishing practices, and protecting the welfare of seafarers.
The firm’s collaboration with FISH Platform, Lloyd’s Register Foundation, Stella Maris, and other global organisations reflects its core belief that sustainable ocean development must go hand-in-hand with legal integrity and human dignity.
